Hematine, also known as “hemalyke,” “hemalike,” or “magnetic hematite,” is a mineral simulant that closely resembles hematite. It was initially believed to be manufactured by pressing and sintering iron oxide, but nowadays, it is primarily composed of a ceramic-like material made up of strontium-barium-ferrite. This unique composition gives hematine its magnetic properties, which make it an attractive alternative to natural hematite in many applications.
